Cu2O Heterojunction Solar Cell with Photovoltaic Properties Enhanced by a Ti Buffer Layer

In this study, semiconductor oxide cuprite (Cu2O) and indium tin (ITO) heterojunction solar cells with without a 10 nm thick titanium (Ti) thin film as the buffer layer were fabricated characterized for comparison. The Cu2O was formed by low-cost electrodeposition, Ti ITO layers deposited on glass substrate sputtering. interfacial microstructures, surface topology, electrical photovoltaic properties of both investigated. test results showed that changed morphology, resistivity, contact potential electrodeposited film. With these changes, performances Cu2O/Ti/ITO cell including open-circuit voltage (VOC) short-circuit current (ISC) all enhanced compared to Cu2O/ITO cell, power conversion efficiency improved from 1.78% 2.54%. This study offers promising method improve Cu2O-based sustainability in material resource, environment eco-system, energy production.
